Service Award
March 22, 2014

Rudy Lewis received the Hurbert Kessler Service Award at Vestavia Country Club on Saturday, 3/22/14, at the Alabama Tennis Foundation Hall of Fame event. Pictured below from left to right are Margaret Lewis (his wife), Rudy Lewis, Mark Kessler and Corky Clark. This award was given for volunteer service that was given to the community. Rudy's biggest accomplishment was bringing the Adult Sectional tournament in 2009 and 2010 to the City of Birmingham. He served as the local coordinator for the event. The Chamber of Commerce said that this event brought in over 10 million dollars into the city. Over $500,000 in tennis center improvements were made by the City of Birmingham to various tennis centers (George Ward, James Lewis, East Lake and Highland). He also has served the tennis community at the local, sectional and national levels. This was quite a surprise!!
